I've created a second channel on my personal account to see if it plays nicely with the G+ features. This channel may or may not be made public, so in the meantime if you need to ask me a question regarding MMD, PMD/PMX Editor or otherwise, you can do so on my tumblr blog
since I can reply more quickly (and directly).
Also, please ignore the whole 'posted by' thing since G+ was bothering me again and wouldn't let me leave without a last name =____=
To put it politely, Youtube hasn't been in my good books lately. What contributed to my ultimate decision?
- Google's switch to the new comment system makes it impossible for me to use comments/ratings
- Most of the tutorials are outdated anyway
Neither this site or any of my other accounts will be going anywhere, and if I have time I'll create another MikuMikuBeat account, BUT it most likely won't be on YouTube. If any of you have been commenting on my videos, I'm unable to see them, and due to the aggressive steps Google has taken in enforcing their name/page policy (as in, even people who use their real names have been flagged, and the review process has been reported to have been unsuccessful for many), I can't be sure if creating a profile wouldn't result in the account's deletion anyway.
I still have a G+ account for other purposes, but I don't believe the MMB account is well suited for the service.
Since I'm attending a college course for animation anyway, I figured that I might take the chance to overhaul the MMD/MMM tutorials since some of the stuff I got from the first few classes (ie: explanations of common industry terms and how they work) could really help people compared to what I've already got (which isn't much). Expect (at some point) a fuller, more comprehensive set of animation and related tutorials!
If you've experienced issues with your PC such as freezing or system instability, you may want to have a look at the latest post on the MMB Wordpress blog
. Apparently there's a critical issue with the 320.18 driver that has been reported to cause this, and a few have even reported their cards burning out
because of it.
Fortunately, the fix is a simple one. I had this issue myself and have rolled back my driver to 314.22 (as explained in the blog post) and will be testing it to see if there's been any improvement.
I've added a chapter on scaling, images coming soon. Have a look at part 15 in the PMD Editor tutorial section in the meantime (may be subject to correction, I plan on verifying the content on my own machine)
It seems that the searchable download database idea is working well
enough, or at least well enough to rack up a bunch of pageviews...
of September 10th, we can consider the database a year old. I'm
weighing the possibility of introducing a 2nd blog/database for
accessories, but I'd like to see how well this project does over the
summer first. Although if I like what I see in a month (or find myself
the DokiDoki Precure OST before then because that'll put me in one hell of a good mood) I'll get one set up.
This update comes a couple of days late due to some 'complications' with my schedule, I'll be at a wedding shower tomorrow which is also the day that the winner will be chosen!
The entries are in and the top 10 finalists have been selected! Congratulations to the ones who've made it this far and good luck in the next round! Now to see who makes it into the top 5...
I'm happy that a few people got a kick out of yesterday's post, although I was partially serious when I said it was time to say goodbye. No I'm not abandoning the site, or the YT channel or anything (if I ever do it'll be a long time from now, and you'll be given plenty of advanced notice), but I'm saying goodbye to some old pages throughout the site.
Basically I'm doing some spring cleaning! A few old pages may be deleted, but only because they're being merged with more appropriate sections. It's all to make the site more consistent and easier to follow. For example, right now there are a couple of 3d modelling related pages but whenever I edit one the other one may still be out of date, so they conflict.
I've posted an important video regarding this site on Youtube.
