Mikeyssmail Signature Hat - Free Crochet Pattern

The signature hat is similar to the NEW YORK CAREER WOMEN'S HAT - There is a few variations to the pattern.
Using K HOOK
1/4 - 1/2 Skien Black Bernat or RedHeart 4 ply Yarn
A Pinch of Purple, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red Bernat or Redheart Yarn. The colours are a combination of 2 strands. EXAMPLE. The Red has two strands of red put together to give it thickness. All colours other than black are the same way.
Here is the pattern, this pattern will take about 3 hours to complete.
  1. Chain 2
  2. HDC 12 times into the first Chain, to create a full circle. Mark the start and end of the circle with a crochet marker or other marking device. This is essential to understand your rotation counts.
  3. FROM THIS MOMENT FORWARD UNTIL I TELL YOU. You HDC into the backloops only. This will cause the pattern to have a beautiful line in your pattern.
  4. You will not slip stitch. but continue to the next stitch like you were going in a spiral. I refer to this as GOING OVER the previous circle. Crochet 2 HDC into each stitch as you go once a round. This will cause the 12 Stitches to double to 24.
  5. When we get to the brim. We will bring the circles back into alignment. The brim is going to cover the never ending circle look.
  6. GO OVER, HDC into the 1st stitch, then 2 HDC into the next stitch. Repeat this 1 - 1 Ratio all the way round the circle.
  7. GO OVER, HDC into the 1st 2 stitches, then 2 HDC into the next stitch. Repeat this 2 - 1 Ratio all the way round.
  8. GO OVER, HDC into the 1st 3 stitches, then 2 HDC into the next stitch. Repeat this 3 -1 Ratio all the way round.
  9. GO OVER, HDC into the 1st 4 stitches, then 2 HDC into the next stitch. Repeat this 4 - 1 Ratio all the way round.
  10. GO OVER and put 1 HDC into each stitch. You will continue to circle 10 times. Each time you pass the starting point, write down until you have done 11 rows. This pattern is very easy to tell without having to write down which lines you have done. Simply count each ring.
  11. Fasten off the black and introduce PURPLE. USING 2 STRANDS OF PURPLE AT THE SAME TIME. GO OVER and HDC into each stitch - circle once.  Just crochet normally using both loops. BUT you get to the final part of the circle, the final 3 stitches are slip stitches. The slip stitching brings the spiral effect back into balance. You will be using 2 strings at the same time.
  12. Chain up 1, Now Circle Again with Purple doing a SINGLE CROCHET into each Stitch (using both loops). WHen you get to the final stitch, slip stitch, and introduce the next colour... USING 2 Strands Of BLUE. From here on in, you will only circle once with each remaining colour.
  13. Chain up 1, Now Circle Again with the Two Strands Of BLUE doing a SINGLE CROCHET into each Stitch (using both loops). WHen you get to the final stitch, slip stitch, and introduce the next colour... 2 Strands Of Green.
  14. Chain up 1, Now Circle Again with the Two Strands Of Green doing a SINGLE CROCHET into each Stitch (using both loops). WHen you get to the final stitch, slip stitch, and introduce the next colour... 2 Strands Of Yellow.
  15. Chain up 1, Now Circle Again with the Two Strands Of Yellow doing a SINGLE CROCHET into each Stitch (using both loops). WHen you get to the final stitch, slip stitch, and introduce the next colour... 2 Strands Of Orange.
  16. Chain up 1, Now Circle Again with the Two Strands Of Orange doing a SINGLE CROCHET into each Stitch (using both loops). WHen you get to the final stitch, slip stitch, and introduce the next colour... 2 Strands Of Red.
  17. Chain up 1, Now Circle Again with the Two Strands Of Red doing a SINGLE CROCHET into each Stitch (using both loops). WHen you get to the final stitch, slip stitch.
  18. You are done, Fasten off, Tie, and Weave Straggler into hat.
Thanks and I hope you enjoyed this pattern.

This is my signature hat pattern design. It's jet black with the rainbow colours worked into the BRIM Only.

The brim consists of double yarn. So each colour has two strands being crocheted together. This creates a thick and solid brim.

Like the rest of my hats, the brim is permanently crocheted into place. The material has a natural fold into the line so that the brim is even. The brim is approximately 2" high. The thickness of the brim is stunning and provides double protection from the winter elements.
