Mike Majkowski is an Australian double bassist and music-maker based in Berlin.
Active across a wide range of contemporary, improvised and experimental music since the early 2000s, Majkowski has developed a highly innovative playing style, extending and refining technical possibilities for the double bass. His musical work ranges from purely acoustic to electro-acoustic to electronic and explores relationships between stillness and pulse, spectral qualities of resonance, duration, and perceptions of listening. Majkowski has toured extensively throughout Australia, Europe, Ghana, New Zealand, UK, USA, Vietnam and has performed as a soloist and with various groups, at key festivals and venues such as:
