I just Moved to your school district and live in the catchment. Can I register at PMSS?

YES, please come and visit us and let's talk.  You have a right to attend your neighborhood school provided we have space.  Because you are arriving part-way through the year, I cannot guarantee you a spot until we've met and discussed what courses you need.  If I cannot find a space for you, I must assist you in finding a school to attend.

I am Currently at Another High School in the District but Want to Transfer to PMSS?

Open transfers between schools are no longer permitted after September 15.  Students may only inquire about transferring if extraordinary circumstances exist, i.e. they have moved to the PMSS Catchment, there are serious issues at their current school etc.  If these circumstances are present, the student and his/her parents must meet with the current 'home school' principal and inquire about a transfer.  If the principal supports such a move, he/she will contact the principal of the school you wish to attend and inquire further.  Transfers are not guaranteed although students moving into a new catchment must be accommodated provided space is available.

I want to go to PMSS in September but attend another high school.

What do I do?  Students have until the end of February to request a 'transfer form' from their current school.  Complete the form and have parents sign it.  Return it to your home school.  The 6 principals will be meeting in early March to process transfer requests.  All attempts will be made to accommodate all requests provided the school you wish to go to has room.  Students will then be notified by their new school for Sept, (or their current home school if they are not successful) as to their status, shortly thereafter.
NOTE:  Forms handed in after the deadline will not be looked at until June and it may be difficult to get into your school if choice if you go down this road.  Get the forms in ON TIME.

I am in Grade 7 in the District and want to go to PMSS in Sept.

What do I do??  Registration will take place in your current grade 7 classroom in February.  You will be asked to complete a form and parents must sign it.  You will be asked to select your school(s) of choice in priority order.  These forms are to be returned to your teacher and they will be collected by our Board Office at the end of February.  They will be sorted and students will be, ideally, placed in their first choice school.  This is not guaranteed and this past year (Spring 2013) showed some students from 'out of catchment' not making it into their first choice school.  Please check this carefully as enrolment is declining in our district and thus enrolment must be 'managed' by the district (i.e. students from out of a high school's catchment are not guaranteed a spot in that school).
