Vital Ministry Journey

As District leadership, we want our Middle Pennsylvania District congregations to be alive in Jesus Christ and thriving in your local communities. Vital ministries are centrally related to God’s love and blessing. The Apostle Paul writes to the Corinthians that regardless of who leads the church, Paul or Apollos, it is God who gives the increase. The church does not belong to the members, past or present. Each local congregation is part of the Body of Christ and called to live and act as a sign and instrument of God’s kingdom (1 Cor. 3). Partnering with Church of the Brethren Congregational Life Staff, District leadership is working to collaborate with our congregations in the Vital Ministry Journey, a ministry to empower our congregations to discover anew and pursue vital ministries in their respective communities.

We continue to be excited as we hear the enthusiasm from many of the Middle PA congregations that are participating in and/or planning for the Vital Ministry Journey. Each of the twelve (12) congregations are at various stages of Phase 1—60 days of Study, Share and Prayer. One congregation will complete their 60 days by the first week of March and have plans to come together as a congregation for their 60-Day Celebration on March 17. Other congregations are half-way through, just started to coincide with Lent, or are just planning and forming their small groups and training facilitators. A district-wide celebration will be planned for late spring to bring folk together to hear the stories and discoveries that congregations have made in the 60-days of Study, Share and Prayer. More details to come in the weeks ahead.
