MOVARC Hamfest A Success

The Mid Ohio Valley Amateur Radio Club hamfest was a success. There was a a few license upgrades and a few new hams with the license exams. Congratulations to Patrick Day (KC8OYQ) on winning the Yaesu FT2DR radio as the grand prize. Also many thanks to Larry Powell (KE8POW) for the concessions and to all MOVARC members for their support and contributions to the event.

MOVARC Pledges Communication Support for Local 5k event

The Mid-Ohio Valley Amateur Radio Club has pledge to provide communications support for the Rally on the River 5k walk/run event in Pomeroy, OH. The event is scheduled to take place June 3, 2017 on Court Street and begin at 10:00AM. If you are interested in helping provide communications support with this event, please contact Andrew (K8ATG) as soon as possible. More information will be available soon.  

Weather Spotter Class

The Mason County Amateur Radio Group and ARES organization has announced a National Weather Service Skywarn spotter class. This is free and open to all to attend but please RSVP with Matt Gregg (WV8MAT) if you are interested in attending. Limited seating may be available.

Gallia County Charitable Foundation Donates to MOVARC

Dean Evans, Gallia County Charitable Foundation, presents a gift of eight hundred twenty-four $824.00 to James (Moe) Siders (KD8DCW), President of the Mid-Ohio Valley Amateur Radio Club, Inc. and Bryson (Bud) Carter (K8AUZ), Club Secretary, for antennas to improve ham radio signals at Fortification Hill.



MOVARC Updates Equipment with Homeland Security Grant

In 2009, the Mid-Ohio Valley Amateur Radio Club partnered with Gallia County EMA and received a homeland security grant. With this grant, the club was able to update their radio equipment so they could be well prepared in case of emergency or other needs from the community. The items that was purchased are listed below.

AEP River Division Donates to MOVARC

September 2013 - The AEP River Division made a $500.00 donation to the Mid-Ohio Valley Amateur Radio club in order to help with replacing their 70cm repeater antenna on Mound Hill. The club is very appreciative and thankful of AEP River Division's support.
