Midnight Poutine plans to serve 1200 poutines on the playa in 2010. We're talking about more than 400lbs of potatoes, 100lbs of fresh cheese curds and gallons and gallons of gravy, not to mention deep fryer oil, propane and other implements of destruction.
When you come to Midnight Poutine on the playa there is no exchange of money, no barter or IOU. Burning Man operates as a gift economy so every one of those 1200 poutines is given freely to the community, but that doesn't mean the poutine is free. All of those supplies cost money and its the members of Midnight Poutine who foot the bill. In 2009 we spent over $3500 bringing poutine to the desert.
Last year many of you told us that you'd be happy to help out and contribute to Midnight Poutine's mission. Well now is the time to put your money where your mouth is (hopefully chewing through a bowl of poutine).
Any amount helps.
$6.00 buys 100 wooden spoons
$20.00 buys 16L of fryer oil
$60.00 buys 10lbs of cheese curds
To contribute funds use this paypal thingy or contact your nearest Midnight Poutine member.
Other Donations In previous years we allowed donations of raw supplies, potatoes, cheese, etc. Unfortunately this threw off our ratios and some of the supplies ended up unused at the end of the week. We can also get far better prices buying in bulk. If you want to help out but don't have the financial capacity there are other things you can do.Midnight Poutine currently needs a burn barrel for on-playa waste disposal. Got one?
Midnight Poutine's service line on the playa is a great way to volunteer. Head on over to the duty roster to sign up!
