Every two months, the RSC program will focus on raising awareness of a different aspect of sustainable living. Check out our current and past themes below.

November/December Theme: ENERGY CONSERVATION

  • Turn things off: light switches, power strips, unused microwaves and other appliances with phantom loads
  • Turn your computer off at night
  • Air dry your laundry (and save dryer money while you're at it!)
  • Wash your clothes with cold water (the "bright colors" setting on Midd machines)
  • Use compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) in your desk lamps
  • Close your windows to prevent as much heat loss as possible
  • Take shorter showers to conserve energy needed to heat your water
What's your favorite way to reduce your energy consumption? Comment on our Electricity Usage page!

September/October Theme: FOOD

Know where your food is coming from, and be aware of the processes that it went through to get to your plate. More local, more organic, and more natural is good!
