CHILDREN OF OUR AMERICA. THEY ARE CHILDREN TO WHOM

IS LARGELY OWED THE BEAUTY OF OUR CHRISTMAS TIME. LOVE OF

OUR CHILDREN SPREADS OUT, AT THIS HAPPIEST, BECAUSE LEAST

SELFISH SEASON, INTO A GREAT GOOD WILL FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE.

THROUGH THIS GLAD EXPERIENCE OF THE BIRTH OF THE ONE ON WHOM

THE HOPE OF THE WHOLE WORLD RESTS, WE ARE ALLOWED TO SEE,

HOWEVER DIMLY, THE JOY WITH WHICH THE WHOLE WORLD MIGHT BE

         INFUSED.

         P. 2.

YES, MOST VIVIDLY THESE HAPPY SINGERS DO WITNESS TO THE

WORLD OF CHILDREN THAT MIGHT BE EVERYWHERE. A SINGING WORLD

CAN NEVER BE AN EVIL WORLD. THE SONGS OF LOVE AND CHEER

WHICH THE MILLIONS OF OUR CHILDREN SING AT THIS CHRISTMAS

TIME WILL REVERBERATE THROUGHOUT THEIR LIVES, LIFTING THEIR

OWN HEARTS AND THE HEARTS OF ALL AROUND. (PAUSE)

AND NOW, IN SONG, THE STORY OF BETHLEHEM - OF THE PROMISE OF

PEACE TO A WORLD AT WAR.

THE TIME DRAWS NEAR, THE BIRTH OF CHRIST. "AND SUDDENLY

THERE WAS WITH THE ANGEL A MULTITUDE OF THE HEAVENLY HOST

PRAISING GOD AND SAYING: "GLORY TO GOD, PEACE ON EARTH,

         GOODWILL TOWARD MEN."

ORGAN & VOICES: "GLORY TO GOD."...

ALLISON:   AND JOSEPH ALSO WENT FROM GALILEE, WITH MARY HIS

ESPOUSED WIFE, OUT OF THE CITY OF NAZARETH, INTO JUDEA AND

AS NIGHT FELL THEY CAME UNTO THE CITY OF DAVID WHICH IS

         CALLED BETHLEHEM:

ORGAN & VOICES: O LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM:

"AND THE ANGEL SAID..."FEAR NOT, FOR BEHOLD I BRING YOU

         GOOD TIDINGS OF GREAT JOY"

"AND THERE WERE...SHEPHERDS ABIDING IN THE FIELD, KEEPING

WATCH OVER THEIR FLOCK BY NIGHT. AND LO, THE ANGEL OF THE

         THEM."

         HASTE AND FOUND MARY:

         SINKS NOW TO SLEEP:

ORGAN & VOICES: "SILENT NIGHT"

ALLISON: (AGAINST ORGAN SECOND CHORUS)

MAY THESE ECHOES REACH AROUND THIS WHOLE BLEAK, DISTRACTED

WORLD. FOR WE CANNOT FORGET, AS THESE VOICES - AS OF A

HEAVENLY CHOIR - PURIFY AND INSPIRE US HERE, HOW FEW OF THE

WORLD'S CHILDREN SHARE THIS SEASON THE SAFETY, COMFORT AND

         HAPPINESS OF OURS.

OUR OWN JOY, THIS CHRISTMAS TIME, MUST BE TEMPERED BY THE

SORROW WHICH ENGULFS THE REST. WE MAY REJOICE IN THE HAPPINESS

OF THESE, OUR OWN SINGING CHILDREN, ONLY AS WE SORROW FOR

         P. 4.

THE LESS HAPPY LITTLE ONES OF THE EARTH; ONLY AS WE

DEDICATE OUR SERVICE WITH OUR SONG, TO THAT "JOY TO THE WORLD" --
