Dr. Vlad Badilita

Vlad Badilita is currently a Group Leader for μMR (microscale magnetic resonance) at IMTEK, Univ. of Freiburg, Germany. He obtained his MSc degree in solid-state physics (1999) from the Univ. of Bucharest, Romania, and his PhD in semiconductor photonics (2004) from the Swiss Federal Inst. of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. Dr. Badilita worked as a research associate at the Univ. of Maryland, USA leading a collaborative project with NASA Goddard Space Flight Center focused on developing optics for X- and γ-ray space applications. While at Univ. of Maryland he was also directing a biosensing-oriented project, developing a bioMEMS platform for optical biodetection.

Dr. Badilita is the lead author or co-author of more than 40 technical publications in the field of magnetic resonance detectors, micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS), or semiconductor lasers. His present research interest is mainly focused on magnetic resonance detection and monitoring of microscopic biological samples and processes.
