•  16 March: Our recent paper, ``Model-based learning network for 3-D localization in mmWave communications,'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications.

•  9 March: Our recent paper, ``Optimal per-antenna ADC bit allocation in correlated and cell-free massive MIMO'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Communications.

2020

•  08 January: Our recent paper, ``Tensor-based algebraic channel estimation for hybrid IRS-assisted MIMO-OFDM,'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications.

•  10 December: ERC Consolidator Grant awarded!! I am one of the awardees of the prestigious 2020 ERC Consolidator Grant. The BEATRICE project will innovate across the interface between information theory and electromagnetism. The project will be launched in 2021 with several postdoc/PhD openings. More details to follow soon.

•  13 November: Our recent paper, ``Deep learning-aided multicarrier systems,'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications.

•  12 November: Our recent paper, ``On the aperture efficiency of intelligent reflecting surfaces,'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Wireless Communications Letters.

•  5 November: Our recent paper, ``On the uplink transmission of  extra-large scale massive MIMO systems,'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology.

•  25 September: Our recent paper, ``The Road to 6G: Ten Physical Layer Challenges for Communications Engineers,'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Communications Magazine.

•  12 August: Our recent paper, ``Intelligent reflecting surfaces with spatial modulation: An electromagnetic perspective,” has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society.

Academic promotion:  As of August 1st, I am promoted to Professor of Communications Engineering and Signal Processing at Queen's University Belfast!

• 24 July: I became an Associate Editor for the IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communations  - Series on Machine Learning for Communications and Networks. Please consider to submit your work to this new journal!

• 8 July: Our recent paper, ``Towards large intelligent surface (LIS)-based communications,” has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Communications.

• 23 April: Our recent paper, ``Hybrid precoding for massive MIMO with low rank channels: A two-stage user scheduling approach,” has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Communications. Also, our recent paper ``Pilot assignment and power allocation for multipair massive MIMO relaying networks,'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology.

• 16 April: Our recent paper, ``The road to 6G: Ten physical layer challenges for communications engineers,” has been submitted for potential publication.

• 06 April: Our recent paper, ``Transmission scheme and performance analysis of multi-cell decoupled heterogeneous networks” has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Communications.

•  28 March:  Our recent overview paper,  “Prospective multiple antenna technologies for beyond 5G,” has been officially accepted by the IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications. 

• 20 February: Our recent paper, ``Deep energy autoencoder for noncoherent multicarrier MU-SIMO systems,” has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications.

• 17 February: Our recent paper ''DYVERSE: DYnamic VERtical Scaling in Multi-tenant Edge Environments,'' has been accepted for publication at the Elsevier Future Generation Computer Systems.

• 14 February: Our recent paper ``Massive MIMO asymptotics for ray-based channels,” has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications.

• 27 January: Our group will present 3 papers at the IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC) in June 2020 in Dublin.

• 22 January: Our recent paper ``Machine learning-based channel prediction in massive MIMO with channel aging,'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications.

2019

• 20 December: Our recent paper ``Fast beam training architecture for hybrid mmWave transceivers,'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology.

• 20 December: From January 2020 onward, I will be acting as a Senior Editor for IEEE Wireless Communications Letters.

• 03 December: Our recent paper ``Multi-pair two-way massive MIMO relaying with zero forcing: Energy efficiency and power scaling laws'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Communications.

• 25 November: Our recent paper ``Towards massive connectivity for IoT in mixed-ADC distributed massive MIMO'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Internet of Things Journal.

•  20 November: Mr Van Thien Luong has successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled ''Reliable and low-complexity multicarrier systems''. Congratulations Dr Luong!

•  23 August: From October 2019 onward, I will be the new Editor-in-Chief of Elsevier Physical Communication (PHYCOM) journal.

• 1 August: Our recent invited paper ``Structured tensor decomposition-based channel estimation for wideband millimeter wave MIMO,” has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers in November 2019.

•  1 August: Our recent paper ``Analytical framework for full dimensional massive MIMO with ray-based channels,'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Special Topics in Signal Processing.

• 9 July:  Our recent paper ``Tracking FDD massive MIMO downlink channel by exploiting delay and angular reciprocity,'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Special Topics in Signal Processing.

• 19 June: Our recent papers ``Downlink channel tracking for FDD large-scale antenna systems,'' and ``3-D position and velocity estimation in 5G mmWave CRAN with lens antenna arrays'' have been accepted for publication at the IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC).

• 3 June: Our paper ``Millimeter wave hybrid beamforming with Rotman lens: Performance with hardware imperfections,'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE International Symposium on Wireless Communications Systems (ISWCS). 

• 2 May: My group will present 4 papers at the IEEE International Conference on Signal Processing Advances in Wireless Communications (SPAWC), in July 2019. 

• 30 April: Our recent paper ''Multipair two-way half-duplex AF relaying with massive arrays and imperfect CSI'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology.

• 14 April: Our recent paper ''Generalized channel estimation and user detection for massive connectivity with mixed-ADC massive MIMO'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications.

• 04 April: New team member! Dr Junjuan Feng has joined our team to work on a US-Ireland project.

• 28 March: Our paper ''Deep learning-based detector for OFDM-IM'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Wireless Communications Letters.

• 26 March: New award! I was just awarded the 2019 Early Career Award from the European Association for Signal Processing (EUSIPCO) for my significant contributions to signal processing for MIMO and massive MIMO systems.

• 15 March: New team member! Dr Amhed Almradi is joining our team to work on mm-wave massive MIMO. Welcome Ahmed!

• 14 March: Mr Chung Ho Duc successfully defended his PhD thesis earlier today.  The topic of his PhD was ‘’Massive MIMO relaying: Analysis and system design’’. Excellent job Dr Duc!

2018

• 20 November: Group alumni, Dr Harsh Tataria, has taken up a senior postdoctoral position at Lund University, Sweden.

• 13 November: Our recent paper leverages a generalized correlation-based model for massive MIMO and investigates some fundamental performance metrics. 

• 26 October 2018: Our recent paper ''Hardware-constrained millimeter wave systems for 5G: Challenges, opportunities and solutions'' has been accepted for publication at the IEEE Communications Magazine.

• 23 October 2018: I will be serving as the Symposium Co-Chair of WCSP 2019 Wireless Communications Symposium. Please consider to submit your research work to this prestigious conference. 

• 20 October 2018: Best paper award!! Our research on massive MIMO has, once again, been recognized. This time through a best paper award at the 2018 IEEE International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP). A copy of the paper can be found here.

• 01 October 2018:  Two new team members! Dr Jide Yuan and Mr James Sutton have just joined our group. Welcome Jide and James.

• 13 August 2018:  Our recent paper ''Hybrid processing design for multipair massive MIMO relaying with channel spatial correlation,”   has been accepted for publication at IEEE Transactions on Communications.

• 16 July 2018:  Our recent papers ''Multi-pair two-way massive MIMO relaying with hardware impairments over Rician fading channels,”  and “Channel correlation diversity in multiuser systems,'' have been accepted for publication at 2018 IEEE GLOBECOM, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

• 11 July 2018:  New project granted! Our US-Ireland project proposal entitled ''Transcoding: A new approach for multi-hop communications'' has been approved for funding. The project partners are Purdue University (Prof. David J. Love and Prof. Chih-Chun Wang) and University College Dublin (Dr. Mark Flanagan). 

• 05 July 2018:  Our recent invited papers ''On the performance of cell-free massive MIMO in Ricean fading'' and ''A weighted MMSE approach to amorphous cell for low-cost distributed massive MIMO'' have been accepted for publication at the 2018 IEEE Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers.  

• 01 July 2018: Our latest paper entitled ''Does massive MIMO fail in Ricean channels?,'' has been accepted for publication at IEEE Wireless Communications Letters.

• 25-28 June 2018: I will be presenting our invited paper ''Impact of RF processing and switching errors in lens-based massive MIMO systems '' at IEEE SPAWC 2018, Kalamata, Greece.

• 20 June 2018: Our recent paper ''On the impact of spillover losses in 28 GHz Rotman lens arrays for 5G applications,'' has been accepted for publication at IEEE IMWS-5G, Dublin, Ireland.

• 13 June  2018: I will be giving a 3h tutorial on ''Interference suppression and energy efficiency optimization in single-way and multi-way communication'' at the 5G Wireless summer school in Edinburgh, UK.

• 29 May 2018: Our latest paper on the power allocation for multi-way massive MIMO relaying has been accepted for publication at IEEE TCOM. 

• 20-24 May 2018: My group will be presenting 4 papers at IEEE ICC 2018, Kansas City, MO, USA.
