Michael Rochlitz

I am Professor of Institutional Economics at the Faculty of Business Studies and Economics, University of Bremen, as well as associate fellow at the Center for the Study of Institutions and Development at HSE Moscow, member of the Russia Political Insight team, and faculty member at the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS). Since September 2022, I am also acting head of the Chair of Economics of Innovation and Structural Change at Uni Bremen, and co-speaker of the economics section of the German Association of East European Studies. In my research, I investigate the interrelation between political institutions, economic development and societal change, with a regional focus on Russia, the former Soviet Union and China. My work has been published, among others, in the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Comparative Political Studies, the European Journal of Political Economy, Economic Systems, Post-Soviet Affairs, Russian Politics, Eurasian Geography and Economics, Osteuropa, and the Russian Journal of Economics.
