In my research, I investigate the interrelation between political institutions, economic development and societal change, with a regional focus on Russia, the former Soviet Union and China. My work has been published, among others, in the Economic Journal, Comparative Political Studies, the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, the European Journal of Political Economy, Post-Soviet Affairs, Eurasian Geography and Economics, and Osteuropa.
