Hello and welcome to my website! In the fall of 2015, I returned to my home state of Florida to join the political science department at Eckerd College in sunny St. Petersburg, FL.  Before that, I spent two years as a tenure-track professor of political science at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana. My teaching and research focus on the role of non-state actors in development throughout the world, with an emphasis on the role of transnational crime and intrastate conflict. In the spring of 2017, I am teaching courses on African politics, international organizations (which includes a trip for students to Geneva!) & political science research methods. My recent publications have focused on the role of resource endowments influencing the location of battles during civil wars, the role of history in the political science classroom and when the international community intervenes on behalf of rebel groups.
