Artist Bio

& CV

Michael Buitron was born and raised in Los Angeles. After attending the Clarence W. Pierce School of Agriculture, Michael was accepted into the fine arts program at CalArts, where he received his BFA in 1987. He currently lives in Long Beach.

For the past 14 years he has worked on theory-based behavior change interventions with various street-based and at-risk populations. He has presented research findings and workshops at several national and international AIDS conferences. More recently Michael has returned his focus to his artistic production. His work has been shown at the Doyle|Logan Gallery in West Hollywood, CA.

His current work continues in a similar vein to the image/text work he has produced over the last several years. In this work from his most recent series, Michael appropriates text from instruments used in psychological testing.
