Kenya Project

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
— Margaret Mead

We are fortunate this year to have a meaningful service project planned for the children.  We're going to make blankets for an orphanage in Kenya, Africa!

Miss Judd's mother and former teacher, Mrs. Donna Judd is working with Mrs. Winnie Mburu from Kenya to bring 100 twin size bed blankets to a children's orphanage in Kenya.  We plan to have the children work on making and donating the blankets, either with families at home or at school in mini-classes.

To kick off the project, Mrs. Mburu will be visiting our class on September 24, 2008 to talk to the children about her country and the needs of the orphanage.

So be on the lookout for more information on this wonderful service project!  In the meantime, if you see any great deals on snuggle flannel that can be tied off to make blankets, let us know, or you can purchase what you'd like to donate and send it to school.

Thanks!  Mrs. Hood, Miss Judd, Mrs. Michael
