This site has been created as part of the Manchester Grammar School's commemorations for its former pupils who died during the First World War. In addition to providing a brief biographical sketch of those former pupils who died during the conflict, it maps out the location of the burial or commemoration and includes the diary of Norman Birnage, a pupil of the school who kept a diary from December 1913 to the end of 1914.  In addition to this, the website contains information about objects that link MGS to the war and background information on the subject.  As well as using the site as a reference point, the search facility means it can an be used as a searchable database.

It is currently a work in progress, and information about other former pupils will be added subsequently.
