I am currently Head of Engineering at GovTech Edu.

Previously, I was Senior Vice President of Digital Banking Development and Operation Division at Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), one of the largest and the oldest banks in Indonesia, leading 5 departments with >200 members, who are in charge of enabling digital transformation and innovation in BRI. Some initiatives are such as BRIBRAIN: centralized AI solutions and services for strengthening customer engagement, credit underwriting, anti-fraud, and operation efficiency in BRI), Ceria (BRI buy now pay later digital product), and BRIAPI (BRI Open Banking API).

Past Experiences

I was Head of Artificial Intelligence Research at Bukalapak, one of the largest e-commerce companies in South East Asia and the 4th unicorn startup in Indonesia that has serves as a marketplace for individual and small business merchants. I led AI Research and Development team in delivering AI products, services, and solutions focusing on machine learning, natural processing, and computer vision domains. Some areas of application that we have been supporting are such as recommendation system, AI-powered search engine, cyber security, investment and financial solutions.

Before joining Bukalapak, I was a research scientist at Weta Digital, a world premier visual effects company for movies. I was involved in developing AI-based software tools for some movie productions such as War for The Planet of The Apes, Avengers: Infinity War, Deadpool 2, Alita: Battle Angle, etc.

Previously I was a PhD student in School of Engineering and Computer Science, Victoria University of Wellington under the supervision of Prof. W. Bastiaan Kleijn and Prof. Mengjie Zhang. I spent my undergraduate and master studies at School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (STEI), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia, from 2005 to 2010. Before starting my PhD, I was a lecturer, researcher, programmer/software engineer, and musician.

My primary research area is machine learning (more specifically Deep Learning, Semi-supervised Learning, Transfer Learning, Domain Adaptation, Kernel Methods) applied to computer vision and graphic problems.
