The Mar Geevarghese Dionysius Memorial Hospital was founded in 1964 and registered under the Indian Public Charitable Trust Act as a symbol of benevolence, a spontaneous act born of compassion for the suffering fellow being and as a bold experiment in social service. The MGDM hospital is run by the Manohar Hill Charitable Trust and named after His Grace the late Mar Geevarghese Dionysius Malankara Metropolitan (consecrated in to second saint of the church in 2002) who laid the foundation of the Catholicate of the East in India.
The founder of this institution, late Sri. P. Geevarghese, a Kottayam Industrialist, whose philanthropy and seep conviction that man is only a custodian of God’s money, has made this venture possible. His continuous munificence, his ardent love for the Malankara Orthodox Church and his zeal to raise the goal of bringing modern medical care to the villageshave contributed to the growth of the institution, from the status of dispensary to a 300 bed church related modern multi specialty community hospital. Today hospital offers specialties in general medicine, cardiology, neurology, Nephrology, Urology, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry. Oro-rhino-laryngology, orthopedics and physical medicine, anesthesiology and Oro-Dental Surgery.
Apart from the services offered by the base hospital, there are programmes such as Rural Eye Camps, School Health Programme, Under Five Clinic, Out-reach clinic, Community Health and development project, preservation of eye sightproject – all aimed at serving the community in different rural locations outside precinct ofthe hospital.
Diploma Course in Medical Laboratory Technology of the Christian Medical Association of India.
This is a two year course commencing in the beginning of August every year. The subjects covered are Human Anatomy and Physiology, Laboratory equipment and organization, hematology, blood banking, microbiology, serology, parasitology, chemical pathology & histopathology.
Demonstrations and practical classes are arranged for the above subjects. Students are rotated through various sections of the laboratory and duties are assigned to them as part of their training. This may include NIGHT CALLS.

Prospectus and application will be issued from 1st June each year, against a payment of Rs.75/-(Rupees Seventy Five only) if you are downloading the application from the website, please send a money order for Rs.75/-(Rupees Seventy five only) in the above address along with the completed application form.
Completed application should reach the office not later than 05/07/2007.
Incomplete applications will not be considered for admission to the course.

4.A one page letter in English in candidates own handwriting stating why he/she wishes to become a Laboratory technologist.

Applicant should have passed Plus Two or equivalent examination with Physics and Chemistry.
The candidate must have god knowledge of English; the course is conducted in English.
The candidate must have completed 17 years and not more than 25 years at the commencement of the course.
The candidate must have good general health. Prior to admission, a medical examination will be conducted by the institution, and if found unfit, the candidate will not be admitted the course. Students to undergo immunization against infectious diseases at their cost.
Candidates are selected on the basis of academic merit and there will be an interview as well as written test. Originals of the certificates should be submitted for verification at the time of interview.
Before joining the course, a declaration signed by the student and parent has to be submitted by the selected student that he/she will abide by the rules set out by the Institution (see application form)

Students will be on probation for first two months and if found unsuitable, they will not be allowed to continue the course.
It is compulsory to attend all the lectures and practical classes. Non- attendance will be treated as absence. Class attendance, class marks, general conduct, behavior and efficiency will be considered for recommending a candidate to appear for the examination.
A student must obtain an average of 60% of total marks in the class tests, failing which he/she may not be allowed sit for the final examination.
Loss of attendance for more than 30 days during the course due to illness or any other reasons will render the student ineligible to appear in the final examination.
Working hours arefrom 8.00 am to 1.30 pm and 2.30 pm to 5-30 pm
All rules and regulation stipulated and revised by the CMAI training committee from time to time shall be applicable to this course of study.
As pre regulations of CMAI the students are required to serve a period of 6 months of compulsory internship after completion of their course. Certificates will be issued only after successful completion of such internship.
If illness occurs during the training course, the student will be cared for in the hospital. Medical consultation, routine drugs and diagnostic facilities in MGDM Hospital, will be available up to a maximum medical care cost of Rs. 250/- per annum. When sick the student must report to the medical officer in the staff and student health service in the hospital
Accommodation may be available for limited number of girl students. Accommodation fee of Rs.200/- per month will be charged for such students in addition to the boarding fee. Accommodation fee may be revised.
Students are expected to obey the MGDM Hospital rules and regulations and are directly responsible to the tutor for their work, study and discipline. If their conduct, behavior and/or their progress of study is found unsatisfactory, they are liable to be debarred from the course at any time, without assigning any reason for the same. In such cases they shall not be eligible for refund of fees paid by them. In the case of voluntary withdrawal from the course by any student, there shall be no refund of the fees already paid.
Students are permitted up to 15 days holidays during the course.
All students are expected to attend the religious activities in the hostel and in the hospital campus. Christian students should attend the service in the hospital chapel.
