The Sacramento Freifechter hold regular classes focused on the teachings of Joachim Meyer. In addition to our regularly schedule classes we also help organize and host events for other groups within Region 6 of the Meyer Freifechter Guild. See our Media and Events page for details.

Group Structure
Members of the Sacramento Freifechter are part of the Sacramento Turn Verein Actives Section and study and train at the Sacramento Turn Verein as well as volunteer and assist in their events. You do not have to be a member of the Turn Verein to participate however you may be asked to join should you become a regular. 
  • Classes are held Sundays at 1:00 pm at the Sacramento Turn Verein.
  • An additional informal class is held in Vacaville CA on Wednesdays, contact us if you would like to attend.
  • Primary focus of the group is long sword with a secondary focus on Meyer Rappier, Dussack and Dagger. 
  • The group is always accepting new members and we provide training for beginner and experience fencers.

Instructors
  • Lead Instructor is Ted Elsner, Unterhauptmann for Region 6 of the Meyer Freifechter Guild, and a ranked Fechter in Longsword. Ted has been studying the works of Joachim Meyer for over a decade. He combines his deep knowledge of the material with his experience as a professional instructor with a Master's degree in education to create classes that promote easy learning in historical fencing.
  • Assistant Instructor Alexander Snook is a student of the martial arts and trains in multiple disciplines including both Western and Eastern Arts.
