Idea Slam: Pitch Application

Michigan Educators: Make Your Idea A Reality!

You have an idea! That's great! The METS community and REMC want to help make your idea a reality. The purpose behind the Idea Slam is to give a small group of passionate educators a platform to share their big idea and allow their peers to help them launch that idea into the world.
  • Who should apply: ANYONE who has a great idea and works in education in Michigan
  • What is required: Submit your idea and be ready to pitch your plan to implement at the Idea Slam
  • When: Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 7:00 - 10:00pm; Application is due by 2/27/17 at midnight
  • Where: The Elizabeth Theater at The Park Bar, Detroit
  • Why: You have an idea burning inside you that you know could make a positive impact in education and you want to see it come fruition.
DETAILS:
Four proposals will be selected to give a 5-minute "pitch" in front of the educators attending the Idea Slam.

At the conclusion of all 4 pitches, the audience will vote for the idea they think will have the greatest impact. The top idea will receive up to $2,500 in seed money to get their idea off the ground and a GoPro camera to help document and share the project. The METS Group will have a Project Team that will provide support for your projects - you will not be in it alone!

To ensure the quality and scale of the ideas, please complete the Idea Slam application. Applications will be peer-reviewed by a METS Pitch Review Team using the rubric linked below. Only 4 ideas will be selected.

2015 winner: Michigan Teacher Leadership pitch. This idea helped lead to the Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teacher and Teaching (ECET2) event in Lansing in December 2015.

2015 winner: #michED to Lansing pitch. This idea came to fruition in the fall of 2016 with a state capitol action day.

Application deadline is Monday, February 27, 2017 at midnight.

Share this event with your colleagues and friends so they can attend as well! Tickets are $20.
