Grand Master Charles E Merritt

8th Dan Degree Black Belt

A longtime resident of the Antelope Valley,  Grand Master Charles E. Merritt, a Certified Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, started serving the community as a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff in 1971. Many years were spent helping our youth by coaching basketball and football. He continued his volunteer work as a coach, while mastering the Korean Martial Art of Tae Kwon Do. Some of the responsibilities and activities involve: attending parades, competing in tournaments, public speaking, serving as referee, felicitating tournaments, demonstrations, and special events. After retiring from the Sheriff Department and many years of Martial Arts training under the supervision of Grand Master Dae Shik Yin, Grand Master Charles E. Merritt continues to serve the community. Through discipline teachings and hard work of Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do he was able to establish the Merritt Tae Kwon Do Academy,  founded in January of 2007.  By the year of 2016, he was promoted to 8th Dan Degree Black Belt by Grand Master Dae Shik Yin.
