The Conclusion of Mountain View Valley - October 19, 2015
After almost four years I have decided to bring my web serial to a close.
Wow, I can’t believe I’m actually putting my beloved cast of characters to bed. I’m going to miss Deanna and Zachariah, the rivalry between Bertha and the Dekkers and all the other characters I’ve created, but it’s time I refocus my priorities.
Life has a way of throwing you curves just when things are going great. My father’s sudden failing health has been a figurative boot to the head, for my entire family. And as anyone knows who has ageing parents, challenges do arise that require us to put the well being of others before ourselves.
I hope I have brought Mountain View Valley to a somewhat satisfying conclusion, although there are many storylines that are still bounding in my head. I hope in the future I can revisit the settlers of Mountain View Valley, perhaps focusing on one character’s viewpoint at a time.
For now, I’m going to take a break. If the last year and a half has taught me anything it is that I can’t do it all. Therefore I’m going to have to shelve my writing for a time.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been following Mountain View Valley. I have enjoyed every moment of providing a weekly installment for those who like the old west type of fiction. Tuesday Serial has been a wonderful experience that has opened up my life and writing to a great degree. Tuesday Serial has offered the perfect platform for me to write short episodes, while allowing myself the time to work on full length novels.
If all goes well, it is my hope that I will be back in 2016 with another web serial. I’ve got the inklings of a fantasy story set on a far away planet which is showing some promise, as well as an idea for a horror piece. I’m not entirely sure what I’ll write, but for those of you who do put your writing skills out into the world, you know that the characters you create can’t be silent forever.
I hope you continue to support Tuesday Serial and perhaps even try your own hand at writing a story. The rewards are immense. Goodbye for now.
