THIS MONTH: SEPTEMBER 2016
It's that time of year again! School's starting, the days are getting shorter, and football season, aka kitty-pounces-the-tv season is upon us.
Check out a video of many of the kitties that we have been fortunate to work with since last October:
https://vimeo.com/183214198. You can see how many all-black and black-and-whites that we help, which is something not all rescues will do. This writer couldn't be more proud of our commitment to all kitties in need!
We have loads of lovely rescues looking for their forever family. Keep in mind that our PetSmart shelter only has a few of the kitties we take in. A lot of our kitties are in foster homes.
A friendly reminder that ear-tip kitties, like our fun-loving Sally, are usually just a part of a TNR rescue - it doesn't mean anything is wrong with them.
Your calls to action are to: consider donating an auction item to Cause for Paws; and b) share one of our kitty's photos each week on Facebook and Twitter. You never know when your share will spark a match between a kitty. Remember: "Likes are nice, but sharing is caring."
Also, time is running out to purchase your Cause for Paws ticket. Help MHS while treating yourself to decadent desserts and coffee at this silent auction event. See our Events page for more information and a flyer you can download and print.
Our pet star this month remains Gillie. This beautiful orange tabby is looking for a quiet forever family after being abandoned by her last one. Please open your home to her.

Melrose Humane Society (MHS) is a group of volunteers who take in sick, abandoned, injured and unwanted animals. We currently care for cats that we take into our own homes, get them the medical treatment they need and care for them until the are ready for adoption.
All cats and kittens are spayed/neutered before they are adopted. We do not euthanize cats unless its medically necessary. We work with them and care for them until forever homes are found.
MHS is a registered 501(c)(3).
Our adoptable cats and kittens are either in foster care in private homes or at our adoption center at PetSmart in Saugus on Route 1 North (next to Trader Joe's). The best way to get started with the adoption process is to read the profiles of our kitties online and fill out an adoption application - the more information you can give us, the better.
We are always in need of loving foster homes for our kitties. If you can open your home to a homeless cat while it awaits its forever home, please let us know by filling out this foster application here.
We are sustained by the generosity of people like you. We work with amazing vets who give us special rescue-based pricing, but we still rack up thousands of dollars worth of medical and general care bills each month. Will you help us by providing a donation today or by attending a fundraising event?
Also, please consider a contribution toward our Guardian Angel program.
Our shelter is located inside of PetSmart (Saugus, Rt. 1), as part of the PetSmart Charities program.
MHS is proud to be a partner of Bissell's Partner For Pets program. BISSELL and LostPetUSA.nethave teamed up to help organizations like ours raise money, and now you can help too! When you purchase pet products on bissell.com and enter the code ADOPT at checkout, a portion of your purchase will be donated to our organization.
