The Straitjacket of Post-Modernity (PM6 SJ)

The Straitjacket of Post-Modernity is a conceptual construct (PM6 SJ) depicting a duplex matrix form that is at the intersection of the underlying E-2 Freedom Matrix, and the Post-Modernity in Six Worlds (PM6) multiplex matrix. PM6 SJ explicates the latent systemic protocols that in combination result in a confounding ‘gridlock’ (strait-jacket) inherent to the post-structural civil and political order.

SUBSTRATAL E-2 FREEDOM MATRIX

The substratal E-2 Freedom Matrix is a time-independent schemata illustrating the socio-political universe. The E-2 Freedom Matrix is a constructivist model of liberal democratic order represented by the conjunction of institutional authority (y0) and ‘charismatic’ legitimacy (x0). Principal axes of this model therefore denote a functional domain of Popular Control (bureaucracy, democracy, anarchy) and range values of Imperial Order/Equal Rights (monarch, democracy, people). Delineated by a center of symmetry, these principal axes are inversely proportionate to utopian notions of absolute ‘freedom’.

Tetrad manifolds particularize a core “+” zone denoting a municipal realm of ‘Political Consensus’ comprised of both (a) Procedural Consensus, the established protocols and negotiation space for political consultation and bargaining; and (b) Substantive Consensus, the protocols of political fora for overlap of ideological positions.

OVERLAY MULTIPLEX MATRIX (PM6)

The overlay multiplex matrix refers to the Post-Modernity in Six Worlds (PM6) conceptual model illustrating the late 20th century phenomenonology of post-structural and post-industrial society, effectively constituting the socio-cultural universe. Principal axes of PM6 are materialism (y0) and industrialism (x0). Secondary axes (first order iterations) of the multiplex matrix form are Old World (Renaissance culture) (y1) and New World (Pop culture) (x1).

Tetralogue outcomes of the post-modern overlay are: Techno-World (Q1), Natural World (Q2), Politico-World (Q3), and Material World (Q4). Along the y0-axis (materialism), a perfect gradient of Post-Modernity evidences an inter-coursing between a left-side virtual realm, and a right-side real realm.

DUPLEX MATRIX FORM

The duplex matrix form characterises a superimposition of the overlay multiplex matrix (PM6) on the substratal matrix (E-2 Freedom). The duplex matrix form illustrates a transposition of the perfect gradient of Post-Modernity along the diametric of the focal point of Political Consensus (core zone).

CLUSTER FORMATION

Quadrant 1: Anarchy, the predomination of people without formal rulership or systems of government.

Quadrant 2: Autocracy, the predomination of an autocrat or clique without mechanisms of popular control or accountability.

Quadrant 3: Monarchy, the bureaucratic rule of a Monarch typically via institutions of Constitutional Monarchy.

Quadrant 4: Democracy, the bureaucratic rule of the people either by institutions of direct or representative democracy.

STRAITJACKET OF POST-MODERNITY (PM6 SJ)

PM6 SJ is an omnipotent set and encompasses the symbolic enumeration of the perfect gradient of Post-Modernity in the conjunction space of liberal democracy and ideals of universal freedom.

Socio-political ordering exhibits powers of continuum with the classic cyclo-symmetric geometries such that under conditions of system alignment the perfect calibration of Quadrant 4: Democracy will invoke principles of causation and pre-determine the coequal interplay and ascent of ‘People’ and ‘Power’ (bureaucracy). At this product moment, the normative equilibrium corresponds to a matrix determinant or system ‘gridlock’ accessory to, and emblematic of the moment generating function which pro-generates a ‘straitjacket’ of Post-Modernity. System 'gridlock' is also integral to explicit delimitations inherent to the post-structural civil and political order.

The Straitjacket of Post-Modernity may also be expounded as restorative to foundational themes of contemporary civil and political society.

(a) Methodological Individualism. Citizen subjects are principal proponents of human agency. By their motivations, actions and rational choices, citizen subjects are true constructionists of civil and political order.

(b) Technologies of Democracy. System alignment under Q4: Democracy directly reinforces latent ‘technologies of democracy’. Convention technologies are protocols and practices of participatory politics and democratic processes that are deemed to result in superior coordinative and redistributive outcomes. Similarly, innovation technologies refer to a form of ‘double commitment’ technology which are inventions of public and conflict management which effectively warns losers of social conflict of limited gains (deterrence), and at the same time assures ‘winners’ that they will not be expropriated (safeguards).

This model expatiates to universal bi-pedalism and is scientifically coherent to the triarchic surface set of the normal species set.
