The Post-Modernity matrix showing six worlds (PM6) refers to a conceptual reference matrix-form depicting the technological and socio- political phenomenology of late 20th century post-modernity, a direct correlate to globalisation.
SUBSTRATAL MATRIX
Vertical Axis (y): Materialism is marked on the principal axis (domain space) denoting the boundary values on which physical interactions of materiality are preponderant. This principal axis measures the density (physical) and intensity (psychic) of material constructs.
Horizontal Axis (x): Industrialism is graded on the secondary axis (range values) to denote the transformational potential of industrialisation (the function). Industrialism embraces the multiple consequences of technological order to society, economy, and polity.
A multiplicity of foundational realms may be observed to emanate from a first-order iteration (minus -45 degree) rotation of the substratal matrix.
FIRST ORDER ITERATION
Vertical Axis (y1): Old World is ascribed to the principal axis (y1-axis) to connote concepts in the Age of Enlightenment (Renaissance culture) and the boundary values on which old world politics is transacted. This principal axis measures the concentration and proliferation of 'soft' (knowledge) and 'hard' (commodity) elaborated technologies.
Horizontal Axis (x1): New World is quantised on the secondary axis (x1-axis) to evoke concepts in the wake of the Age of Discovery, particularly the most recent era of 20th century international society (Populist culture). New World is in the essence and epitome of post-industrial society.
MATRIX CLUSTER FORMATION
Quadrant 1: Techno-World, a high techno-centrist position that mechanises and impels the adjuvant popular culture.
Quadrant 2: Material World, constituting the leading-edge of contemporary ethno-centrism and the vanguard of the consumer society.
Quadrant 3: Politico-World, the engine and control centre of socio-political order. Under conditions of equilibrium, this quadrant is the seat of legitimate authority and the realisation of elitist ideals in liberal democratic order.
Quadrant 4: Natural World, an aggregate stock of natural abundance representing humankind's natural endowment of land, flora, fauna and natural resources.
POST-MODERN EXTERNALITIES
In the vicinity of the Politico-World, a duality of positive externalities may be demonstrated to accrue to the human project of industrialisation and globalisation.
(a) Material Surplus, the material - both tangible and intangible - wealth produced by technological intensification; and
(b) Accrued Knowledge, also termed 'evolution' to signify new procreation of a 'virtual' (e.g. knowledge, skills, 'know-how') asset base borne in direct relation to technological deployment. This externality may also be considered to encompass synthetic or man-made forms of speciation (e.g. bio-organic, artificial life).
PERFECT GRADIENT
Along the y0-axis (materialism), a perfect gradient of Post-Modernity evidences an inter-coursing between a left-side virtual realm, and a right-side real realm. The gradient of Post-Modernity also inclines to the universal laws and cleaves along the juncture of progressive sub-set and conservative sub-set.
This model expatiates to universal bi-pedalism and is scientifically coherent to the triarchic surface set of the normal species set.
