Basket Raffle Raises Nearly $8,000!
Thank you all so much for such a fun -- and successful -- Basket Raffle & Ice Cream Social!! Can you believe we raised nearly $8,000 for our schools in one night?! We couldn't have done it without the support of so many:
* Our planning committee (Jen Girard, Laura Mullen, Sarah Dahlheimer, Lauren Nassiff, Rachel Kerls, Amanda Regan and Jessica Grimes) for their many hours of hard work
* All the parent volunteers who coordinated class baskets or pitched in to make sure the night went smoothly
* Mrs. Luizzi, Mrs. Yanuskiewicz, the teachers, and school staff who helped serve ice cream to hundreds of excited kids all evening
* All our generous community partners for their support
* The awesome staff at Medway High for their hospitality
* And, most importantly, to our elementary families for not just providing donations for the baskets, but for coming out and supporting MEPTO!
Teacher Appreciation Week
We're excited for next week's well-deserved celebration of Medway's teachers, aides, and staff in grades Pre-k to 4! We invite you to participate in whatever way you can. Here is the schedule of events:
Tuesday, May 24: To kick off Teacher Appreciation Week, we will provide the staff with a luncheon, thanks to the many contributions of our parent community.
Wednesday, May 25: Students are asked to bring in a school supply for the classroom. Suggested items: pencils, colored pencils, thick and thin markers, dry erase markers, glue sticks, highlighters, white-out, tape, disinfecting wipes, paper towels, hand soap/sanitizer, tissues.
Thursday, May 26: Parent volunteers will provide the staff with breakfast treats.
Friday, May 27: Students are asked to bring in thank you note(s) for their teachers. Don't forget often times your child sees more than one teacher throughout the day. Feel free to bring in notes on any day of the week to be able to celebrate staff that your child may see on various days throughout the week. Notes may take the form of a special memory of the year, a drawing, or even a poem.
Please remember that participation in these events is completely voluntary. Thank you for your support (and special thanks to Lori Rossi and Alexis Spallone for coordinating this year's activities).
Call for Field Day Volunteers
It's that time of year! MEPTO's annual Field Day event is just around the corner.
There will be three Field Days again this year:
McGovern School: Tuesday, June 7
Memorial School (2nd/3rd grade): Wednesday, June 8
Memorial School (4th grade): Thursday, June 9
Registration for this year's Field Day volunteers will be an online registration process only. There will not be any paper forms going into backpacks for volunteer opportunities (think green!). We are also trying to limit the number of personal emails.
Volunteers will be assigned jobs on a first come, first serve basis. We will try to accommodate personal preference, but we do ask for patience and flexibility as we plan for Field Day.
Be on the lookout for future emails from us confirming your assignment and more details regarding Field Day specifics.
We hope to have a great (and sunny) Field Day! For more questions, please contact Preston Gales, McGovern coordinator (email@example.com) or Melissa Moore, Memorial 2/3 and 4 coordinator (Melissa.Moore113@gmail.com).
4th Grade Send-Off
The 4th Grade Send-Off event is scheduled for June 17
. Plans are well underway and we've got a great group of volunteers in place, but we are still looking for parent volunteer(s) from Mrs. Tonelli's class. If you're interested and available, please contact Susan Alessandri at firstname.lastname@example.org
MEPTO Community Partner Award
MEPTO recently presented Tina Chemini from T.C. Scoops
with our first-ever Community Partner Award to acknowledge those in the Medway community who go above and beyond to support our elementary schools and students.
From opening the doors of her business to host local organizations like ours (including the Basket Raffle pre-sale) to donating items for fundraisers, Tina truly defines what it means to be a community partner. She received her award at the Basket Raffle & Ice Cream Social where--it's no surprise--she volunteered her time to scoop ice cream (much of which she donated) to the hundreds of Medway elementary families who attended.
Thank you, Tina, for your kindness and community spirit!
Photo of the Month
MEPTO is so proud to support the Medway Community Farm enrichment program! Love seeing the classroom expand to the great outdoors, as students learn all about planting, caring for, and harvesting crops.
