Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteo-Arthritis

Cetyl Myristoleate

That’s right.  A randomized double blind Phase III placebo study of 93 Osteoarthritis sufferers,    age 39-77 found significant relief from stiffness and discomfort after only 60 days.

What Your Would Life Be Like Without Pain?

In 2004 a study, published in the Journal of Rheumatology, concluded application of Cetylated Fatty Acid cream was an effective treatment for improving knee ROM (range of motion), ability to ascend/descend stairs, ability to raise from sitting, walk and sit down, and unilateral balance. (J Rheumatology 2004;31:767-74)[1]

And this within 30 minutes!

Cetylated Fatty Acid Is Known As An Immunomodulator

Kenzen Joint formula and CM Complex Skin Cream is made glucosamine and MSM and the highest concentration of cetyl myristoleate available on the market today.

Cetyl myristoleate  is a cetylated fatty acid known as an immunomodulator.

Dr. Len Sands, former Director of the San Diego Immunological Clinic in California, reports on this overlooked, not-so-new discovery made by Dr. Harry W. Diehl at the National Institute of Health back in 1971.
  • This little know natural substance, Cetylated Fatty Acids, Cetyl Myristoleate  (also known as CFA, CMO, CMOT or CM Complex), kept mice from getting arthritis. Cetyl Myristoleate is not found in humans.

Dr. Sands explains that immunomodulators are different from immunosuppressant or immunostimulant.

  • Immunomodulators interact only on the memory T-cells, which are responsible for controlling the autoimmune process within our bodies. Dr. Sands calls it a “ general remedial immunomodulator.
  • This is important because there are several types of T-cells.  Each with different responsibilities for fight off infections and cancer cells.  The memory T-cells are the ones involved with inflammation and autoimmune diseases.
  • Cetyl myristoleate  is considered an "adaptogenic", meaning it balances the immune system.  It helps the immune system to regulate an overactive immune system as well as an underactive immune system.  It helps put the body back in proper immune balance.

Dr. Sands is quoted as saying:

"CMO is not a pain reliever, anti-inflammatory, cortisone or other steroid. CMO is an immunomodulator, it regulates your immune system."

Another study,  also published in the Journal of Rheumatology,  of a capsule  form of Cetylated Fatty Acids,  (or
Cetyl Myristoleate), stated:

“Conclusion. Compared to placebo, CFA provides an improvement in knee range of motion and overall function in patients with OA of the knee.  CFA may be an alternative to the use of non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for the treatment of OA.”(italic added)

(J Rheumatology 2002;29:1708-12)[2]

The formula of  Cetylated Fatty Acids used in these studies was Kenzen's Bio-Directed Joint and CM Complex Cream, distributed by Nikken.

CLINIAL TRIAL SUMMARY:
A recent research study was done by independent research groups. It showed that cetyl myristoleate was effective on 96% of the people who took it. A randomized double blind Phase III placebo study was done on 93 sufferers of Osteo-Arthritis, who have been diagnosed with OA for an average of 6 years. 52 men and 41 women, aged 37-77 over a period of 60 day treatment period where 96% of them found relief after two months.

What about interaction with your RA meds?

“The CFA provided relief even for those individuals also receiving traditional medications.

…In summary, the use of a cetylated fatty acid complex improved knee range of motion and function in patients with OA of the knee of 5 to 6 years’ duration.”

Cetylated Fatty Acids Improve Knee Function in Patients with Osteoarthritis by Robert Hesslink Jr. David Armstrong III, M.V. Nagendran, Srinan Sreevatsan, and Raj Barathur.

This double-blind studies was conducted while the participants were still taking their prescribed treatments.  But of course, as with anything new, talk to your rheumatologist  about possible interactions with your prescriptions.

Unlike NSAIDs, there are no know side effects. You may take it for the rest of your life if you want/need to.
