Knitting Group

Contact Fran W. with questions.

All women are invited to attend these informal meetings to chat, knit and have compassion for others.

Help is available if you would like to learn to knit or crochet and yarn, patterns and needles are always available.  Come out and learn a new skill while giving of yourself to others.

All are welcome to attend. We meet the second and fourth Mondays of each month.

Beginners are welcome and will be helped to start a simple project.

The knitting needles have been busy over these past months and we have supported several charities.  We donated 9 (nine) baby afghans, 5 (five) baby sweaters and 42 (forty-two) baby hats to Harrisburg Hospital.  We also donated 13 (thirteen) lap robes to the Wounded Warriors Project and 4 (four) sweaters, 3 (three) hats and 3 (three) afghans to World Vision for their Knit for Kids Project.

Knitters were Esther F, Annette L, Judy P, Dorie S, Fran W, and Michelle W.  Our thanks go out again to Judy P. who has donated all the yarn used for these projects and to all the knitters who spend their precious time knitting for others.

Our knitting and crocheting group meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in the church library.

Yarn, needles and patterns are available.

Contact Fran W. for more information.

MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!

Card Making Project

posted Dec 1, 2014, 8:00 PM by Ken Schmidt   [ updated May 2, 2018, 5:48 PM ]

Our group of four have decided to discontinue the recycling card project.  Our card recycling project began in 2003.  It has provided good fellowship and has generated $1,788.00 since 2003.

June M. was our expert gluer for many years. We appreciate your contributing the cards through the years so that we could create new ones!

Recently, our sales have decreased, probably due to the availability of reasonably priced cards at stores like Dollar Tree and Dollar General.

We’ll continue selling the cards in the back gathering area while the supply lasts.  We would be happy to share the leftover cards and envelopes with those who could use them for crafting or art projects.

Please see Jean R, Harriet B, Rita R, or Nancy S. if you could use these materials.

We plan to officially end the project by the time of the Yard Sale in August.  In the meantime, keep buying!

Thanks for your support!

Quilting

posted Nov 4, 2014, 2:38 PM by Ken Schmidt   [ updated Aug 30, 2018, 2:09 PM ]

Our Quilters Group meets every Wednesday Morning at 9am in the Choir Room.

Thanks to our quilters for donating 2 quilts that were sold at the Brethren Home auction. One quilt was the “flower garden pattern” hand pieced by Lucy C. and was chosen as the volunteer quilt last year.  It sold for $400.

The second quilt was an original design created by Phyllis P. and sold for $100.

The quilters would like to encourage others to join the group. They meet Wednesday Mornings at 9:00 am in the choir room.  Beginners are welcomed to come and learn how to quilt and laugh.

Caregivers Support Group

posted Sep 18, 2014, 5:29 PM by Ken Schmidt   [ updated Oct 30, 2019, 1:02 PM ]

Meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 1:00 PM in the Church Library.

The group's aim is to enrich the care-giving experience as we open our ears and hearts to others during difficult times in
the life of a caregiver.  They meet monthly in an effort to provide an opportunity to grow in tolerance, patience,
compassion, and understanding the limitless power of love, as we value the gift of care-giving.

If you are or have been a caregiver or know of someone who would like to encourage, support, share helpful hints and give
hope to others on their care-giving journey - this is the support group for you.  We meet in a relaxed atmosphere where you
can talk freely with other caregivers sharing your thoughts, fears and apprehensions and know you are not alone.

For more information, please contact the Church Office at 717.766.8880.

Group Moderators are Lois S, Janie D, and Fran W.
