May 13th -- "Left Behind or Launched Forward?" // Mother's Day

Worship Theme: One of the testimonies of scripture is that Jesus left.  He ascended into Heaven.  John’s gospel reminds us that Jesus did a lot of work to prepare us for that shift!  Not just with the giving of the Spirit, but with the gift of purpose for those of us who are left behind.

Scripture Texts:  John 17:6-19; Acts 1:15-17, 21-26

May 20th -- "Waiting for the Spirit" // Pentecost Sunday

Worship Theme: The promise of Jesus is that in his absence, we will receive guidance in the form of the Spirit.  The book of Acts speaks of the Spirit as power, while John’s gospel describes the Spirit as the Advocate of our Lord.  Romans reminds us that the Spirit is intended to be our guide.  Waiting for a guide is tough when we want to launch out on our own.  How do we know when to wait and when to go?

Scripture Texts: Acts 2:1-21; John 15:26-27; 16:4b-15; Romans 8:22-27

May 27th -- "Saving the World!"

Worship Theme: What does it mean for the world to be saved by Jesus?  Saviors in our culture are often superheroes who steps in and counter the lurking evil with superior strength and power.  These days, the storyline requires a whole crowd of superheroes to handle the evil nemesis.  But John 3:17 offers us a different twist on the One who saves!  The One who comes, comes not to condemn but to save!

Scripture Texts: Romans 8:12-17; John 3:1-17
