MisCake - serves 6-8


  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 10 ounces 2% milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease an 8" round cake pan, and line with parchment paper.
Cream butter, eggs, sugars together until light and fluffly.  Add milk and beat until combined.  Fold in dry ingredients, then stir in nuts and chocolate.  Pour into prepared pan and bake in a 350 degree oven for 30-40 minutes, or until top springs back when touched lightly in the center.  Let cool for 15 minutes in pan, then turn out onto a wire rack to finish cooling.  Dust with confectioner's sugar.
