Literacy has always been a collection of cultural and communicative practices shared among members of particular groups. As society and technology change, so does literacy. Because technology has increased the intensity and complexity of literate environments, the twenty-first century demands that a literate person possess a wide range of abilities and competencies, many literacies. This site is an access framework for our district's schools to move forward the integration of a K-12 Digital Literacy and Digital Citizenship curriculum.  The foundation for this framework has been constructed from the Common Sense Media Student Curriculum.  Over time, educators will be able to use this site to customize and adapt lessons with other online content and local resources.

We encourage students, parents, and teachers to visit Common Sense Media and explore the many outstanding resources that they offer.

Highlight innovative examples of what teachers are doing around the district, creative uses of technology by students and staff.  Celebrate and share model uses of technology.

The Digital Life Notice Board can be used by by student to post public thank you messages to a teacher when they use technology in a way that makes learning more effective or engaging.  We hope that this will help us to better understand ways that students feel the use of technology is of value to learning. Teachers can use the Notice Board to help celebrate student uses of technology that model our Essential Standards for Educational Technology Use and to help celebrate the efforts of their colleagues as we work together to integrate meaningful uses of technology.  To post a notice, email a message to your principal and they will review your message and post those that promote positive uses of technology.  Keep it short, and of course make it sweet!
