West Peak Helderberg with Nina Nezura, 24 November 2013

We have started as a strong group of 5 at the bottom of the reserve and headed toward Disa Gorge to meet other two hikers who were waiting for us there. The day promised to be hot. And it was. When we reached the gorge, two people decided to turn around. The rest of the party proceeded following the path to the peak. Every time we turned the corner we hoped for the breeze to cool us down. But that day the air was moving only just, so we stopped frequently to rest. On one occasion we first heard and then saw young baboons playing on the ledge above Disa Gorge. We didn’t stay too long on the top as it was hot and soon after having the lunch began our descent reaching the bottom of the reserve just after three o’clock.
