Houwhoek Mountains with Richard Loos, 23 June 2013

posted 7 Aug 2013, 07:57 by Hagen Liebberger

Eighteen happy hikers left the Houw Hoek Inn on a pleasant winter day for the nine km. circuit. Once we had ascended the short, steep hill above the hotel we were in pristine fynbos, the everlastings being at their best and well dispersed through the area. Six of our group under the able leadership of Mike O. K. and second-in- command Nina N. deviated to climb one of the peaks. The rest of us stuck to the normal route and stopped for a leasurely lunch break where we had a good viewpoint overlooking Bot River and surrounding areas. The exploratory party caught up with us and after allowing them a short break we set off back to base where we retired to the stoep of the Houw Hoek Inn to slake our thirst on a variety of beverages.
