The day started very wet with the light drizzle and 8h00 it did not look feasible to do the hike due to the cloud sitting right at the foot of the Helderberg mountain. However, later on Gudrun, Carl and me went on for a short stroll to investigate the state of the paths at the reserve. The cloud has lifted and the drizzle has stopped and we were greeted with gentle sunshine. We found that the bottom part was very much saturated with water. In one place we had to climb over the tree which was obstructing the path and most likely came down previous day when the wind and rain were strong. We noted that the fences have been now taken down and the new signage has been put up, some of which was lying down knocked off by the winter winds. All the routes to which we used to refer by colours are now been renamed.
