It was a superb weather for 10 of us to venture this beautiful area: while the wind was blowing strongly in Gordons’ Bay we have discovered that Crystal Pools were much sheltered from it by the mountains. The path is very well marked and maintained. After walking for some time we have reached the first pool and what a beautiful site! We have carried on to the second pool and while some members of our group decided to stay at the pool more restless bunch has ventured further to the top. This is a truly beautiful area, and a very popular walk. After the lunch and refreshing swim in the pools we have walked back. The permit for this area is obtainable only at the Helderberg Nature Reserve. The conservation officials check the permits at the parking, but only in the morning. Yes, and the Wild Card does not cover the entrance to Crystal Pools .
