A small group of 6 plus 2 dogs on a wonderful perfect spring day, no wind, not too hot, climbed up and up and around and around Bel Ombre peak at the back of Table Mountain. There were lots of people at the start at Constantia Nek, but once we were up the slope and around we had the mountain to ourselves. The fynbos was glorious – purple Erica, Proteas and lots of different grasses. Fortunately we were in the shade for most of the uphill and found a lovely sunny spot for our coffee break at 10am. We reached the dam around lunchtime so had a nice long break there and the dogs had a swim. We came back along the contour path meeting lots of people walking up. If you google Bel Ombre Table Mountain you will see some lovely photos of the area.
