Mary Cuffe Perez is the author of three books and numerous magazine articles, short stories and poems.  Much of her writing, including her soon to be published, Barn Stories (North Country Books), draws from the rural upstate New York area where she lives.

She is creator and director of the Story Quilt, a community wide social history and poetry project which she won for the Galway Public Library an Joseph Shubert Award for Programming Excellence from the NYS Education Department.  She is also editor and contributor to the book published from that project, Story Quilt:  Poems of a Place.


Mary also develops and facilitates a number of workshops for libraries and other organizations on writing poetry and memoirs, and on natural history subjects. She also facilitates book discussions funded through the NYS Council on the Arts for libraries in the Mohawk Valley Library System.

Mary was born in Nashville, Tennessee, lived much of her childhood in Seattle, Washington and now lives with her husband, Ken Perez, her dog Izzy and several horses in the town of Galway, NY.
