Float through a starship wreck shooting monsters and identifying bodies

As a space marine you patrol the spacelanes, boarding wrecked starships, surveying the damage, and identifying the bodies of their crews. Derelict starships are quickly inhabited by vicious space monsters, so you carry a big gun with which you can shoot in any of the eight compass directions. The space monsters take four direct hits to dispatch.

This only barely qualifies as a game but it should be good for about five minutes of amusement. The key idea is to approximate movement in zero gravity in a Roguelike (turn-based, square-based movement). There's lots more that needs to be done but it has objectives and opposition.
