Today is the day when we honor all those men and women who have served and defended our country. Not any easy job by any means. While you may think of it as a day off, for many people, it means not seeing their moms, dads, uncles, aunts or other loved ones for months and months. It means lots of worrying and lots of tears. Think about all those people for even a couple of minutes today while you are eating dinner and watching tv. Without them, a lot of the things we take for granted would not be possible.
Check out this book list about people fighting wars present and past. It may give you something to think about next Veteran's Day.
I love science and physics. It really is fascinating to me. Unfortunately, I think I just don't have a mind to comprehend it all. Luckily, there are people who do. Even more lucky there are people who realize that the rest of us want to understand it too.
So a couple of days ago my sister posts about the "Higgs Boson particle". And it just blew my mind. Literally. I totally didn't understand it, but I knew it was helping to explain the universe around us. My sister, who is wonderful wonderful wonderful, sent me to the site The Mary Sue, which is a site for nerdy (and not so nerdy) girls. They had a great way of explaining it all to the less educated in the form of a comic. And if you know me, you know I love a comic. :)
Good grief! Is it June already? This weather is making me act all sorts of wacky. I ate breakfast outside today. I bought my daughter sandals. I even opened the windows in my car all the way down and drove as fast as I could (and still be responsible) so I could feel the wind blow through my hair! What is up with this weather? I am absolutely terrified because I'm afraid this means snow and hail in July. Yuck. What do you think?
So what do you guys think so far? I'm pretty happy. I'd better be though, because I put some work into this thing! Seriously though, please give us suggestions for things you'd like to see up here! This is your place in the library world. We want you to feel comfortable here. :) So what do you think of all this ridiculous weather? Crazy!
So apparently teens don't use blogs anymore and they're totally 2009 or something. "Studies show" that most people use Facebook to get all their news. So I think we are going to have to say good night to our wonderful little blog and hello to our brand new website! As always, let us know what you think and if you think something should be added. And if you love writing, art or music let us know and we can add your work up on our site!
Hope to see you here a lot! Cathy at the Chili Public Library
