12/16 - Bullet-Target problem:
- A 0.02 kg bullet is shot at 500 m/s towards a 4 kg, stationary target on a stand that is 1 m above the ground. The bullet becomes embedded in the target and the two objects fall too the ground. Friction between the target and the stand are negligible.
- A) How far from the base of the stand does the target land?
- B) How much thermal energy was generated upon impact?
- Conservation of momentum (to find the speed of the bullet-target after the collision)
- 2D kinematics (to determine the x-distance traveled)
- Conservation of energy (to determine the amount of E(th) that was generated)
12/13 - Analyze a video for your group to get some lab data
12/9 - Read sections 10.1 - 10.6 and answer the Stop to Think quests (there's 8 of them)
12/6 - Study for Momentum and Impulse test on Monday (1 period test, 17 MC, 1 OR)
