The Fourth Annual Deborah Cunningham Access Awards

Friday, August 3 at the
Crosstown Concourse 6 to 9:PM

Entertainment by Hope Clayburn and Soul Scrimmage with guest appearance by Ms Joyce Cobb

Memphis Center for Independent Living (MCIL) is honored to announce “The Deborah Cunningham Access Awards,” an annual fund-raiser for MCIL. This year marks 20 years from the historic Memphis lawsuit: Deborah Cunningham and The United States of America versus The Public Eye. Deborah demanded access for people with disabilities and would not be deterred by the "good 'ol boy" network in Memphis.

In honor of Deborah's dedication to access we are catering a fine Barbecue dinner from Leonord's. The Access Awards event  helps raise funds to pay for the services MCIL provides, but even more, it helps raise awareness in the community of who and what MCIL is and what we do. This event is also an opportunity to recognize advocates for access.

The fourth annual event will take place at the new Crosstown Concourse, from 6 till 9.  Hope Clayburn and Soul Scrimmage will be the evenings entertainment with a guest appearance by Joyce Cobb. Tickets are $40 for an individual and $300 for a table of 8.

This event offers an opportunity for people with and without disabilities to join together for this celebration to honor the difference Deborah Cunningham made in our community and to thank MCIL for training, educating and advocating for an accessible community where everyone is welcome!
