Friday, July 26 at the
Crosstown Concourse 6 to 9:30 PM
Entertainment by Hope Clayburn and Soul Scrimmage with guest appearance by Ms Joyce Cobb
Memphis Center for Independent Living (MCIL) is honored to announce “The Deborah Cunningham Access Awards,” an annual fund-raiser for MCIL. This year marks 29 years from the signing of the historic civil rights legislation: The Americans with Disabilities Act. President H. W. Bush signed the ADA in the Rose Garden on July 26, 1990. Many Memphians were at the event at the White House.
In honor of Deborah's dedication to access and Civil Rights, MCIL is catering a fine dinner from Collette's with three entree choices, drinks and desserts. The Access Awards event helps raise funds to pay for the services MCIL provides, but even more, it helps raise awareness in the community of who and what MCIL is and what we do. This event is also an opportunity to recognize advocates for access.
The fifth annual event will take place at the Crosstown Concourse, from 6 till 9:30. Hope Clayburn and Soul Scrimmage will be the evenings entertainment with a guest appearance by Joyce Cobb. Tickets are $40 for an individual and $300 for a table of 8. Get tickets online.
This event offers an opportunity for people with and without disabilities to join together for this celebration to honor the difference Deborah Cunningham made in our community, to celebrate the ADA and to thank MCIL for training, educating and advocating for an accessible community where everyone is welcome!
