3. Conservation of Energy Lab

YOUR MISSION:

Design a lab that answers this question:

HOW IS ENERGY CONSERVED WHEN OBJECTS MOVE?

You need to design a lab that illustrates how energy is conserved using nothing but the materials provided to you.  Below is your list of materials:

MATERIALS:

Metersticks
Rulers
Balance
Weight set
Timer
2 Hall's cars
Ring stand
Ring for ring stand
boards

Step #1: Fill out the pre-lab part of the lab write-up (Hypothesis, Experimentation, Procedure).  Make sure your hypothesis is written in If, then format with the proper parts in each.  You can access the Lab Write-Up Form here.

Step #2: Share your pre-lab with another person, and have them make comments in your Google Doc on the quality of your hypothesis, experimentation, and procedure.  Then turn it in to Edmodo.

Step #3: Set up your Google spreadsheet for data collection.

Step #4: After your lab has been approved, carry out your lab using proper safety precautions.

Step #5: Graph and analyze your data, and fill out the rest of the lab write-up form.  Be sure to insert your graph into your lab write-up.
