Research Experience in Adaptive Optics

During the summer of BU 2012 I was fortunate enough to participate in an NSF-funded program at Boston University Photonics Center that provides middle and high school teachers an opportunity to participate in research.  Teachers were assigned in teams of two to a lab within the Photonics Center.  I was teamed with Michelle McMillan from Sanborn Middle School in NH.  We worked in Dr. Bifano's lab on adaptive optics.

Our task this summer was to build a demonstration adaptive optics system.  This system will be used by Dr. Bifano in his classes next year.  We learned a lot about adaptive optics ourselves in the process.  Check out the links on the left to find out about my experience and how it will affect my teaching.
