The CVMS Library Moodle Course delivers information regarding current library programs, links to online resources and current collaborative research projects.

Teachers have enjoyed collaboratively planning the research projects with the understanding that students will be able to access the resources in the classroom, the computer lab, the library and from home. Students have used the Moodle Site to retrieve the lesson instructions and to locate the on line resources.

Attendance at the Core Team meetings affords the opportunity to be aware of the curricular content as well as insight into the student concerns. Leading the Unified Arts team affords access to the remainder of the staff. Planning meetings with the principal can ensure support for your focus and successful completion of goals.

These face to face meetings provide the basis for the continual use of emails and the school wide integrated calendar for the building activities. Students are often given reminder notices of login user-names and passwords for Premium resources to which the district or the state has purchased for the school library. One of the many ways to promote their use in the home is to share with parents on Open House night. Parents are always excited to be made aware of these resources.

Communicating high learning expectations

Europe Today Moodle Course

This course reflects the expectations for the unit in Geography with Mrs. Mollica's students. This innovative technology leverages the interest of 21st Century learners to collaborate and complete the assignment both at school and at home.

The adaptability of Moodle is helpful as the cooperating teacher and I make changes to the unit each time we approach it with the students. By either adding new web resources or by adapting the requirements to the special needs of the students, this project lends itself to learning differences. Enthusiasm by the students for the project has grown with the integration of technology as the delivery medium for this unit.

Smart Library Design Project

This library was designed to control the traffic flow. This allows for a maintained log of students that are in the room at any one given time.  A fire emergency exit door is placed toward the back of the room. This fire exit is used in the event of drills or evacuations. The room is allocated two fire extinguishers near the front entrance.

Safety includes supervision and it is the visual sight line with the shelves at the 3 foot level that allows for a better vantage for the teacher in charge of the room.  The windows provide both an exit route as well as a view of the exterior of the building.

Workshop Certificate

This i-Safe training demonstrates how to safely use online resources.  Both the topics of copying information and the events of harassment or misconduct in the use of Internet resources are covered in this tutorial. The information is presented to you in a means that enables you to share the program with your faculty and students as well as parents.

This program was formulated and presented in an online training module. I was able to present an overview of the program to my faculty at a faculty meeting. I would have liked to present the material in an online tutorial to students but the school district police officer presented on the topic of Internet Safety to the entire student body during an assembly.

The collaborative planning of these three areas of study allow for the completion of multiple PSSA Standards for English while combining the research process from science.  The use of a Moodle Course as well as print resources allow student to focus on grade level and reading level appropriate resources.

The development of the Moodle Course allows for each of the teachers involved in the process to access the necessary resources at any location throughout the school, the classroom, the computer lab and the library.  The students also have access to the information from home to continue their projects in that setting as well.
