INGREDIENTS
1 lb frozen straight cut French fries
1 tbsp canola oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
½ tbsp grated garlic
½ tbsp grated ginger
3 thai green chilis, finely minced
½ cup ketchup
2 tbsp strained tomato sauce (passata)
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp white vinegar
1 tbsp soy sauce
Salt to taste
¼ cup chopped fresh coriander
Thinly sliced green onions
METHOD
Place frozen french fries in an air fryer basket, and cook at 400 degrees for 14 minutes, shaking the basket once or twice during cooking. You want to cook the fries until they’re extra crispy so that they hold up against the sauce.
If you don’t have an air fryer feel free to deep fry or bake the fries.
To prepare the sauce add oil to a wok. Once hot add onions, and saute until softened and translucent. Grate in fresh garlic and ginger, and scatter in minced green chilis. Saute until fragrant.
Add ketchup, strained tomato sauce, sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, and salt to taste. Stir to combine and cook the sauce for 5-7 minutes until it’s thick and glossy.
Add the french fries to sauce, and mix to coat. Garnish with chopped coriander and green onions, and just like that our Manchurian Fries are ready.
