Annual Meeting and Dinner - Jan 29th, 5:30pm

posted Nov 28, 2011, 1:23 PM by catherine bushman   [ updated Dec 25, 2011, 5:26 AM ]

We'll be meeting at Bolton Road House again Sunday evening, 1/29/2012, to plan our 2012 calendar.  The club will be subsidizing the dinner costs, and will update this note with specifics in early January.

Please put the date on your calendar, and we'd really love to see you at the meeting.  We have several pressing topics to cover, including selection of new officers (definitely president and treasurer posts), and a proposal to merge MCDS with the RIDC club.  The reality is many of our members are in both clubs, geographically, we're all pretty close, and rising insurance costs could be carried by a single club rather than two individual clubs.

Joint Fun Drive with RIDC

Yes, we really did hold the Fun Drive on Saturday, despite the forecast of a historic snow storm...  Sorry to say that there were only 2 participants brave enough to come, but WE had fun!  A lovely drive, a good cones practice, a great lunch, and home before the snow started accumulating.
Thanks to Carol and Dave Carpenter for their hospitality and efforts in decorating for the event.

Another great event - hope everyone had fun!  From an organizational point of view, it felt like we took our lessons from last year and made some good improvements on layout of courses, how to split the classes, etc. And we're still open for suggestions!

The final results are attached below.  If anyone has trouble opening the document, let us know, and we can email it to you directly.

Race of the Century - Collings Foundation, Stow MA

Were you wondering who won???

The horses were stars again at the 2011 Collings Foundation Race of the Century.  They endured throngs of people and baby carriages, cheering crowds, airplane engines, unmuffled motorcyles, steam whistles and sirens.  Oh, and probably a million photographs....

Advancing technology (Stanley Steamer, Indian Motorcycle, etc.) technically got the upper hand in a few races, but nothing compared to the charm of the horses & carriages!

Tyrone Farm was lovely, with one of the first cooler days in a while.  Lovely views out from the farm and surrounding hay fields made for a beautiful drive.  And brunch after was delicious!  Tyrone Farm has a history of hunting and driving, and we enjoyed seeing pictures of Bill's mother on the property driving a tandem hitch.

We got great tips on walking the cones course and th mental strategy that has worked for Bob.  Now we have no excuses for "going bowling" on our next cones courses!  Kevin took the following pictures:
