Average verification is the process which the USBC uses to ensure bowler's are using the average that substantiates they belong in the classified division.
After January 1 of the competition year, bowler's who are in the classified division (whether competing there in singles, doubles, or team) must support their last year's average with proof of their average as of January 1, that is signed (attested) by a league officer. This average proof cannot move the bowler's average up by 10 pins or more; if it does the new average will be used for the competition. If the new average takes the bowler over the 180 threshold, then the bowler moves out of the classified division and will compete in the regular division.
At the competition, each classified bowler must sign a "green sheet" (attachment below). This is where the bowler takes responsibility for their own average. Any classified bowler must answer all the questions about eligibility, average, and any re-rating that might have occurred in the past year. Then the bowler must sign it. Any false data entered on this form will subject the bowler to ineligibility and forfeiture of any prizes or standings, in any/all events.

To establish your average and eligibility into the classified division:
The easiest way to verify your average is to use the Find a Member search on bowl.com. You can search by name or member ID. Once you locate your record, you can pull up your averages from past seasons. Print out the page that lists your last season average, and either send it with your entry, or bring it with you to the tournament.
If you are unable to print out your record from bowl.com, you can also bring a copy of your local association yearbook that lists your highest average.
Have your local association manager verify it for you. If you don't know already, you can ask your league secretary how to get in touch with your association manager.
