The GorgeKids Triathlon is an opportunity for our students to do a fun run, swim and bike course on the waterfront.   It takes many parent volunteers to help staff this amazing event, and a majority of the 250 kids participating are May Street students too!  Proceeds are divided equally between Hood River elementary schools to support PE, health and fitness programs.

May Street's Coffee Fundraiser is a super fun sales contest where the kids try to sell bags (and more bags!) of local, organic “May Street Holiday Blend” coffee.  Brian Graves, May Street parent and owner of Pacific Rim Coffee Roasters, generously provides us with the freshly-roasted coffee, and then many parent volunteers bag up the coffee to get ready for the holiday sales contest.  Last year, students sold a record number of bags—2415!  Proceeds have also supported a record number of iPad purchases for our classrooms over the last few years.

Date:  Fall/Winter.

The May Street Teddy Webber Scholarship Dinner and Student Art Auction fundraiser is a festive school community and family event where we gather to enjoy a yummy lasagna dinner, and have a chance to appreciate and purchase our student's art and other great auction items.  It’s super fun for the kids too!

The proceeds for this fundraiser are used to support two $1000 Teddy Webber scholarships for college-bound May St. graduates, and fund our artist-in-residence program, and purchase art supplies for our classrooms.

May Street's annual Dragon Dash combines fitness, fun and fundraising in a whole school, one-day event.  Building on the long tradition of Run for Fitness, a spring after-school running program, the Dragon Dash is a jog-a-thon type fundraiser in May.  Students get pledges for laps, collect donations and win fun, experienced-based prizes, such as the much coveted "Principal for a Day."  The Dragon Dash proceeds fund the many varied PTO activities throughout the year, such as music and PE camps, teacher grant requests, and school assemblies.  Date:  In May, exact date TBD.

Pelinti Pizza - Pizza with a Purpose Fundraiser is a day in which our school and our local community are encouraged to enjoy yummy pizza, salads and treats from Pelinti Pizza. Pelinti owner and May St. parent, Gabe Head, generously writes us a check for 20% of their ENTIRE day’s proceeds!!  This fundraiser has been used to support our playground improvements.  Date:  exact date tbd.

May Street movie nights provide kids and their parents a chance to enjoy a movie on the big screen in the May St. gym for a small entrance fee.  PTO sells popcorn and water, and parents can also drop-off kids and go out enjoy a date night too!  Date:  usually 3-4 movie nights throughout the year.

May Street Skate Club hosts roller skating sessions at the Westside Elementary School gym on rotating Fridays and Saturdays in the months of December through March.  The skate club is a volunteer organization whose goal is to create a fun and safe environment for our kids.   Proceeds from Skate Club nights support PTO enrichment activities and PTO’s general fund.  Date:  Dec.-Mar.
